The weather prediction looked promising for a colorful sunrise. Since I wanted to arrive about a full hour before sunrise I had to set my alarm at 4:00 AM. (Earlier would not make a difference because of the Corona curfew which is active at the moment from 21:00 to 04:30.) This location is about 1.5 hour drive from my home and once I arrived in Marken I still had to walk for 30 minutes to reach the lighthouse. As a visitor you're not allowed to enter the village by car.
Once I arrived in Marken. Sunrise was still an hour away. So I had to walk in the dark to the lighthouse. This was a nice opportunity to test my new headlamp (Nitecore NU32). Which I was really pleased with. It was really nice to walk up to the lighthouse. It was very quiet, only the sound of birds surrounded me.
I wasn't the first photographer who arrived at the lighthouse. One other photographer did beat me to it. Since I didn't wanted to lose any time. I first set up my camera to find my composition to be ready for sunrise. First I was afraid there wouldn't be enough clouds in the sky for a nice sunrise, but luckily nature proofed me wrong. Even though there weren't many clouds in the sky it still was a colorful spectacle. Since the peak of colors is only present for a brief moment, it is peaceful and stressful at the same time.
Once the best light had passed and the photos were taken. I had a nice conversation with the other photographer (Reinier) about all kind of topics. I really enjoyed our talk, it is always fun to meet likeminded people.
